Oakland, CA —  Mike Jenkins, the founder of Lift Us Foundation and dedicated mentor and founder of Speed Power Strength Gym in Oakland, has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle for his remarkable work in the field of weightlifting. The article highlights Jenkins' significant impact on two young athletes, Rucker Johnson and Robert Whitlock, who are on track to represent Team USA at the 2028 Summer Olympics.


Rucker Johnson and Robert Whitlock, both Oakland natives, have transformed into the strongest weightlifters their age in the country under Jenkins' mentorship. Their journey from beginners to Olympic hopefuls is a testament to the exceptional training and guidance of Mike Jenkins. Both athletes have secured full scholarships to LSU Shreveport, further solidifying their bright futures in the sport.


Mike Jenkins, a former national-medalist weightlifter, founded Speed Power Strength Gym in 2016 with a mission to promote weightlifting and support Oakland youth. The gym has become one of the nation's premier weight-training facilities, producing numerous national champions and providing comprehensive support to its athletes.
